Artist SAMI MAKELA (born 1972) is from Helsinki, Finland. As a son of a  late World War II illustrator, Reijo Makela, Sami grew up in Finland appreciating all types of art. After finishing art school in Helsinki and making a name for himself as a graffiti and mural artist, Sami decided to pursue his dreams in America. 

As an owner of Makela Art Studio, located in Lake Worth Beach, Florida, since 1994, art restoration, murals and decorative painting are all close to Sami’s heart. He has also continued to create original paintings for clients and shows.

Sami has been recognized for his talent by local art critics and won multiple awards and art competitions. Also, Sami's work has been featured in several international art books and magazines. In addition, one of his mural works “History of Helsinki” (1992) is part of a permanent exhibit in Helsinki Museum of Art.
